Pause now
and give names
to all that
encircles you
this day.
Sit
at the feet
of your own
promises.
Do not give
your life
a hollow
greeting
or forget
to bow
in that keen
threshold
between the thing
that is you
and the
sharp slant
of silk-web
binding
to it all.
I love this! I try to do some form of the Examen every evening and I love how you’ve captured the idea of stopping to reflect deeply in a similar posture in this poem

Thank you Amy! I am also trying to make it a habit to pray the Examen this year – it is always good for me to have rhythms that force me to “pause” which was probably the inspiration for this poem. 🙂
